Synopsis

T.C. Williams High School is famous for its successful integration of its 1971 football team that won the State Championship, as depicted in the Disney hit film Remember The Titans. The high school also made strides toward ending gender bias by fully supporting a women's crew team, in 1974.

On the waters of the Potomac River, coach Dee Campbell has been molding young women into champions of rowing and life with a mix of discipline and heart. Lady Titans: A Title IX Victory, directed by Jason Scadron and produced by Liv Violette, places the spotlight on the T.C. Williams High School women's crew team and the lifelong bonds that are forged with their coach.

Collage Productions, Inc. received unprecedented access to the students inside the high school and on the river. The program captures the tenacity and grit of these young women and the dedication, teamwork, and passion needed to succeed in rowing. Audiences are placed in the middle of the action from rowing on the Potomac River at sunrise, racing from start to finish, and experiencing an emotional surprise reunion for coach Dee Campbell by three generations of rowers.

The film also raises awareness about the monumental strides made by Title IX - the 1972 law that prohibits sexual discrimination in any educational program or activity within federally funded institutions. In 1974, T.C. Williams High School led the charge by fully supporting women's crew. As Title IX has been in the books for over thirty years with staggering results, so too has the Lady Titans coach Dee Campbell who founded the women's rowing program at T. C. Williams.

The story is told through the perspective of Coach Dee Campbell, Lady Titan '90 and Olympian Linda Miller, the team's captain, and narrated by Olympic Gold Medalist Dominique Dawes. All the voices provide insights to the challenges of the sport, the bonds that are formed, and the personal growth gained from training to be the next LADY TITAN.
